About This Spot
Stepping into Chopstix Cafe feels like discovering a quietly cherished corner of Gainesville where the hum of daily life slows just enough to savor both nature and nurture. Nestled beside a tranquil lake, this spot invites you to unwind with a personally crafted meal as the afternoon light plays across the water’s surface. Whether you find a place indoors shielded by gentle air conditioning or choose one of the outdoor tables where the occasional glance might catch the lazy drift of a lily pad or even a distant gator, the atmosphere blends peaceful respite with a subtle vibrancy.
Chopstix Cafe isn’t just an Asian restaurant; it’s a gathering place where Chinese, Japanese, and Thai flavors mingle through thoughtfully prepared dishes that feel both familiar and refreshingly genuine. The pace here is unhurried, encouraging diners to lean into the moment — maybe chatting quietly over warm bowls of noodle soup or sharing the bright, crisp balance of fresh summer rolls alongside a carefully shaken Mai Tai. The menu highlights offer more than sustenance; they create connections, whether that’s between friends, family, or even solo visitors finding quiet company in their meal.
The charm of this neighborhood spot lies not only in its diverse, satisfying fare but also in its approachable spirit. Locals return regularly, drawn by the mix of hearty portions and thoughtful touches — a spicy kick in the broth, the satisfying crunch of Bang Bang Shrimp, or the subtle smoky sweetness of a California Roll. This familiarity fosters a space where names are remembered, and anticipation for quiet sunsets by the water grows with every visit.
Some evenings carry the easy rhythms of casual conversation, others hum with the soft clatter of chopsticks and contented sighs. Yet always, there’s a shared appreciation for a place that manages to feel just a little like home — warm, welcoming, and quietly alive with the human moments that make a meal more than just food on a plate. Chopstix Cafe offers a gentle invitation to slow down, taste deeply, and take part in a local story that’s still unfolding.

Delicious food and Great portions as well. The veggie spring rolls are recommended. The Japchae was also very good and enough for 2 people with medium appetite. Their Combos available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday come with rice and solo and they are very filling as well. Will definetly be back to try the fried ice cream. Sittinf outside with the lake view is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon/early night.
This place is awesome, and might be one of the very best places in Gainesville. The food is tasty, totally exceeds my expectations everytime I taste it. I do think you need to actually eat here rather than order doordash, though. The service is super fantastic and the vibes from the nearby water, especially at sunset, couldn't be more light and positive. I truly recommend giving this place your Tuesday evening timeslot.
The expectations were well matched. I missed popular dishes bcz it was out of stock, I hope they keep in stock most of the time. The ambience is great along side with sunset and pond view. The food is great. Would love to come here more often.
Local gem . We just love coming here!!! Travel 45 min to enjoy the amazing dishes. Some of them captured but many options available. Family restaurant always see the same people when we visit. Beautiful water views and sometimes you can see gators. Thank you for your awesomeness. Your hard work is appreciated.
This is hands-down the best hidden spot in Gainesville. I was having a tough day and needed a place to experience outdoor beauty and knew just where I needed to go. Not only do you have amazing views, but you can sit in air conditioning and enjoy the best Pad-Thai and Boom-Boom Shrimp around!
Love this family owned and operated restaurant. I have eaten here many times on many different occasions and I have not been disappointed. The dishes are freshly made to order and you can get each dish made hot or not…whichever way you want it, they will do it. I have eaten their 8 and 9 on a scale of 10….9 was getting hot but I love spicy food and if you don’t, it’s no worries for them as they can make your dish however you want!!!! All the staff is so nice and friendly and they make sure your meal is prepared how you like it. Great food and a good atmosphere with a spectacular view of Bivens Arm. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to eat freshly made to order Pan-Asian meals.
If you are interested in getting variety of Asian food especially then this can be right place. You can different style of noodle soup from Vietnam, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, China and Japan with different selection of meat as chicken, pork, seafood and beef. The best part is that you can choose Ramen, Udong, Pho, Thai noodles etc with your selection of meat. You can also get different varieties of grilled meat, teriyaki chicken and also varieties of soup including oxtail. For seafood lover there is shrimp, octopus, etc along with the California roll, volcano roll etc for the roll lovers. The restaurant is so busy that even with pre reservations you may need some wait time. The food are very near to authentic as you can imagine that it is difficult to get every native component of particular dish however they have best reflection of the effort. The desert is also awesome but the mango cake is fantastic. Best place to be with family and friends and should never miss when you have multicultural friend or foodie pals.
Nice restaurant! Friendly staff but it was a lil slow. Great food. It has a lovely deck with a nice view. Big parking lot. I really enjoyed my sushi! The deck was a little crowded. Maybe they can space the tables a little better. I also think they had a banquet room.
